Abdel Cowo
Abdel Cowo is the current Deputy Mayor of San Ignacio, Belize, and sitting town council member. He serves for the people, alongside the people. He leads forward in bolstering the path of education for the youth, demolishing road blocks and carving new avenues for the youth to prosper. Abdel has a keen focus on achieving long-term sustainability in all things’ life. His position in Zoning and Planning for San Ignacio and Santa Elena, is where he sees not only solid growth opportunities, but how to maximise their potential in the long run. Abdel’s plan extends throughout one’s lifespan: easing the road for education, and solidifying the people’s place, fostering an ever-lasting community.
This comes from Abdel’s long history in management and long-term planning, having worked at the Insurance Corportation of Belize, Unicomer Group, and various LLCs. He sees people and meets them where they are, and aids them in achieving proven, long-term goals.

Abdel’s prime-double focus in education comes from his beginnings, past a decade ago, as a counselor, and teacher, where he saw first-hand the pitfalls that young people face with learning, beyond the textbook. This he cements now in his un-ending stride to ameliorate the San Ignacio and Santa Elena education system. Having understood the youth, once as a kid himself, and second when working with them, he’s grown keen understanding of their generational needs.
In 2021, Abdel made his first move into the political space running for San Ignacio Town Councilor. It would be until the 06th of March, 2024, the Elections and Boundaries Commission released that Abdel Cowo had been elected Town Councilor, San Ignacio and Santa Elena, representing the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Abdel’s focus has long been for lengthy ambition with an approachable optimism and charisma. Since his time in office, Abdel has been on the ground, with the people, not only making but also seeing the difference. Speaking to people provides the most insight.
